River Crossing near Groveton, NH

At Groveton, the special left SLR rails for the New Hampshire and Vermont. This track was maintained to much lower standards than the SLR, so passengers were not allowed to ride in their cars, taking busses instead. The P40s ran around the train and after many delays, finally started south towards Whitefield, NH, at 5 mph.

Photographed by Geoff Doane, September 2, 1997.
Added to the photo archive by Geoff Doane, April 13, 2004.
