Maine Central - Lower Road - Mile Post P48

All along the Lower Road were these wounderful Mile Posts. Granite with a good paint job on each one. Most of them were readily visible from the ROW with the brush cleared out between them and the track. On Lewiston Lower I never saw a mile post. One the Rockland Brnch the Mile Posts were either the old steel ones on a wooden post, or the newer ones, plywood on a steel post. The Mountain division had a mix of both with more granite than plywood. They must be set well, I never saw one leaning, each one was straight as an arrow. I took about 300 shots along the Lower Road. This is just a smattering. /DL
