Maine Central Hermon Pond Siding c1910

Another EBay discovery. On the back of the 5x8 print is the notation; 'Hermon Pond Siding'. Hermon pond is about 3.5 miles west of Northern Maine Jct, and just south of the MEC row. This picture is of about 16 men apparently working the ballast. You don't see any front end loaders, backhoes, or other tools of the trade so evident these days. The shutter time was long. Some of the crew are a just a blur. I estimate the picture to be about 1910, but it could be +/- 10 years or more I suppose. /DL

Photographed by Unknown, 1910.
