New Boston Freight Corridor

New Boston mini-version of the Alameda Freight Corridor is being constructed under D Street in South Boston. This little known project eliminates a former grade crossing and reconnects the port to the national rail system. This picture shows the deep trench needed for the rail line to accommodate future doublestack trains. How's that for wishful thinking!
