These cars were used with the troop sleepers. The stoves were coal fired. The troops came through with their mess gear, picked up their food and returned to their cars to eat. So there was an aisle down one side of the car while the other side contained the work space. This car has been completely refurbished (not restored) and is used as the kitchen car for the Café Lafayette dinner train.
