RR Station Bucksport, Maine This is the RR station in Bucksport cica 2002. I grew up a few hundred feet behind the camera on the other side of the tracks. (U could only live on 1 side of the tracks in this part of town and not get your feet wet.) The main line ran just about where the red car is in the fore ground. The run around, used after the loco dropped off freight at the station, was to the right of that track about where I was standing when the shutter was clicked, (or what ever passes for that function with a digital camera).
Now, I have a question for the assembled multitude. In the 50 odd years I've been keeping tabs on this landmark I've always woundered what the '6' on the cement sign post beside the station stood for. I've got all sorts of old MEC rule books but none of them have given me any hints. I seem to recall that the back ground was origionally yellow.
This building now hosts the local historical society. /DL Photographed by David Larrabee, July 19, 2002. Added to the photo archive by David Larrabee, January 28, 2006. Railroad: Maine Central.
