Looking North, towards Trout Brook

This photo was taken during a walk along the old W, W, & F Railway roadbed. Trains often had to double the hill, in order to climb the 3% grade, in order to get to top of the mountain. Once they got to the top of the mountain, they dropped off there cars on the siding, went back and got the rest of the train. The mountain was the steepest grade on the W, W, & F. However, the steepest grade was six and a half percent.
