The New York New Haven and Hartford Railroad openned a yard roughly halfway between Boston Massachusetts and New York City New York. At mp128 in the flat area of Poquonnock Bridge, Groton Ct. The site had a Coal tower, Round house, Sand house, hotel,and icing facility. With the introduction of better steam power the midway yard engine facility was downgraded, when all classification work was moved to Cedar Hill the yard became redundant.

A walk through the Bluff Point State Park will find the paths you are trodding on are cinder and coal. And a look through the brush and woods will oncover a rich history.
When the Church Street bridge was built over the New Haven station area remains of teh old NYNH&H roundhouse were found and when excavated they found tools and parts shoved into the loco pits. What do you suppose lies in the earth at Midway?
