Sign put up by MDOT in Brunswick, marking start of Lewiston Lower Branch

Sign put up by MDOT in Brunswick, marking start of Lewiston Lower Branch. It is near the east end of Brunswick Yard, near Stanwood Street. MDOT-contracted workers are busy rehabilitating the Branch, and it is hoped that revenue service will restart in June, possibly running as far as Lisbon Falls for the first time in many years! Even though the 9.4 mile segment from Brunswick to Lisbon is State-owned track, Guilford apparently retains the right to service whatever customers there are.

Photographed by A.R. Seamans, May 30, 2006.
Added to the photo archive by Alan Seamans, June 4, 2006.
Railroad: Maine Eastern Railway.
