4-6-0 Locomotive #14 "Waquoit"

I wish I knew more of the history of this beautiful locomotive. It was on Portland & Rochester's roster in the 1800's, before Boston and Maine absorbed both P & R and the Eastern Railroad. My great, great, great grandfather, Lemuel Coolbroth, was one of the founders of the Portland, Saco and Portsmouth Railroad, which became a part of the Eastern Railroad. He was associated with the railroads for about 51 years. His son and my great, great grandfather, Edwin, served the Portland Yards for over 55 years, beginning work as a yard brakeman for the Portland, Saco and Portsmouth and eventually becoming general yard master for the Boston and Maine. As yard master, he had many years of service without a single serious accident to his charge, which was a feat at that time. This photo is from the collection of my great grandfather, Arthur Johnson, who was a railroad engineer for Portland Terminal Co. after the Boston and Maine and the Maine Central were joined.
