Newport Secondary converting to Narrow Gauge!

The damage show in this photo was done yesterday by a low hanging auto transport tractor trailer when it came up the hill on Anthony Road in Portsmouth to enter the Common Fence Point area.

The track has been torn off of its ties and bent. The damaged area is about 60 feet in length.

This section of track is on the North end of Aquidneck Island. It used to lead to the Sakonnet River railroad bridge which was recently removed.

This photo shows the damage as seen from the South end of the crossing.

The future of this section of track is questionable. Hopefully, it will be repaired.
