Washout on the Newport Secondary

One of the problems of building a track on the side of an island is that it is in the natural drainage area of the upper farm lands.

Here is a situation where a prior repair has been washed out by heavy rains. This was discovered during a recent Old Colony & Newport Railway track inspection.

This is probably not an emergency since this is located in a seldom used part of the Newport Secondary track.

That is the upper part of the Narragansett Bay in the background.
