Pan Am Railways NBWA (North Bennington, VT to Waterville, ME) arrives at East Deerfield, MA at 3:58 pm on Saturday, 05/24/2008 with GP35 number 209 on the point. The train was interchanged from the Vermont Railway to Pan Am at the Hoosick Junction, NY interchange (which was reopened in early 2008 after being out of service for several years), and consists mostly of limestone slurry tanks cars. This traffic was formerly run on the Green Mountain RR to from Rutland to Bellows Falls, VT and then over Pan Am as train BFPO (Bellows Falls, VT to Portland, ME). As an unfortunate consequence of the rerouting, the Green Mountain RR 263/264 (between Rutland and Bellows Falls) on Saturdays is no longer a guarantee. Sundays have now become the favored day as the Green Mountain brings salt to Bellows Falls, as well as interchange traffic for the New England Central.
