Back in the day...

...There used to be a bridge on these abutments. The line went over this bridge which went over the Merrimack River out of Nashua, through Hudson and Windham and eventually to Portsmouth. I believe the Portsmouth Branch from Rockingham Junction is what is left of the same line.
