Boston 6131 Before Restoration

Boston Elevated Railway Center-Entrance Car 6131 served as a Sand Car for the railway and succesor Metropolitan Transit Authority since conversion in 1945. In the mid-1970s this car and single-unit mate 6309 were acquired by the Seashore Trolley Museum. Restoration of 6131 back to a multiple-unit passenger car was started in the mid-1980s and resumed in 2009. The car will be used in a two-car train with mate 6270 once the latter car is restored in the future.
