J. P. Noonan at Mansfield, MA. The bottom end of the conveyor. You can see the grate between the rails that the stuff falls through to land on the conveyor. Obviously the discharge gate must only be opened partway for this. The gentleman who gave me permission to take these photos told me that it's soda ash being transloaded here. Further up in the yard they have a separate station similar to this for transloading sand.
