CV FAN TRIP

My first fan trip was a Boston to Willimantic to Brattleboro excursion mainly over the largely steam powered Central Vermont. Riding the New Haven baggage car behind 2-8-0 464 cemented my fascination with steam. If there was no room at the side doors, standing at the forward door and watching the tender bounce and sway was just as good. On one trip the steam hose supplying the train ruptured at the tender rear but the brakeman went over the coal pile to tell the fireman to shut off the steam line and they quickly replaced the hose at the Brattleboro roundhouse while fans watched.
