Another Station Gone!

The former Rutland RR train station in the town of Stephentown, NY (east of Albany) was torn down in April, 2011. The station was built circa-1869 as part of the Lebanon Springs RR. Through a series of mergers the line became a division of the Rutland RR in 1901 and became known as the "Corkscrew Division". The track was removed in 1953. According to a recent newspaper account, the most recent owner of the building felt the old station was beyond repair and saving. The Stephentown Historical Society tried to purchase the station in the 1980s but was unsuccessful.
