Trying to pull 30 cars upgrade out of the Lower Yard in Hermon, MMA 2001 and 8583 were in remote mode and out of view of the engineer on the ground. Approaching the the west end yard switch into LMS, the train lost traction and spun in place long enough to overheat the wheel flanges on B23-7 # 2000. The apparent fog is actually smoke from the light show.
