The Cape Cod Central Railroad's Scenic Train On Thursday October 10th, 2013

Photographed here is the MC 2006 running as a reverse engine past the historic railroad station located within West Barnstable, Massachusetts on the Cape Main Line. Behind it is the Cape Cod Central Railroad's Narrated Scenic Train, with only about four or five passenger cars that originated out of the Hyannis Railroad Depot located within Hyannis, Massachusetts. Moreover, there were two unoccupied double decker passenger cars that retained the Saratoga And North Creek (i.e., the SNCRR) markings, and one single passenger car that retained the San Luis And Rio Grande Railroad (i.e., the SLRG) markings. From what I have already learned, these three passenger cars are presently undergoing restoration. Partialy out of view, and directly behind the MC 2006, is yet another piece of unused Cape Cod Central Railroad equipment. Once owned by the San Luis And Grande Railroad, this E9 series locomotive is numbered #2402, and has an Electro - Motive Division (i.e., an EMD) builder's plaque with a build date of December of 1955. Upon being acquired by the Massachusetts Coastal Railroad sometime during the Winter Of 2012, it could be noticed alongside many of the other trains that ran throughout just this past summer. I must say that I am baffled as to why this particular engine has remained out of service for some time now. Even so, as a result of only one locomotive being used for today's run, the MC 2006 would stop just short of the Sagamore Bridge located within Bourne, Massachusetts, and "run - around" the entire length of its train on the one siding that runs directly parallel to the Cape Cod Canal.
