Batten Kill Rail Road -- Friday August 07, 2015

The 4116 is getting "ready to rumble" onto the bridge structure as in just a moment it will cross its namesake Battenkill River on this gorgeous August afternoon. Making up the consist heading northbound are six-axle MOW flatcar #103 and nine loaded covered hoppers assembled from interchange at Eagle Bridge NY -- as they jauntily saunter into what the old D&H crews used to call "no-man's land" -- the four mile stretch outside Shushan NY to the historic covered bridge at Rexleigh.

Photographed by Cully, August 7, 2015.
Added to the photo archive by John (Cully) Cullinan, August 8, 2015.
Railroad: Battenkill.
