Beavertail Curve from BML#50

This composite comparison of the changes along the Belfast and Moosehead Lake Railroad grade in Waldo County, Maine, since the City of Belfast pulled up the track last September to make a walking/bike trail between Belfast (MP 0) and the City Point Central Railroad Museum at MP 3.2. I took the upper image in July, 2012 from BML50, the road's oldest (and still active) 70-Ton GE diesel electric locomotive that the BML bought new in 1947, heading inland entering the Beavertail Curve at the old Upper Bridge (MP 1.0). I took the other picture at the same place on September 1, 2015.
Sadly after being in place for 145 years the track up to MP 3.2 is now gone making City Point the "end of the line" and cutting the overall grade up to Burnham Junction from 33.07 miles to 29.87.
