Fallen Flag Great Northern

James J. Hill built the Great Northern from Saint Paul, Minnesota, to Seattle with his own money. Eventually the road merged with Burlington RR to form Burlington Northern and then with Santa Fe to form BNSF. Boxcar photographed in Gardner Yard 1989.
