Benton, Maine

PanAm eastbound freight WANM is starting its all day journey to Northern Maine Jct. from Waterville, and has just cleared the long inactive siding at CPF 107. As long as I've been visiting this part of Maine, the siding has been stuffed full of stored cars, and the signals at the west end are bagged and inoperative.

A few minutes before this picture was taken, the train spooked a moose from the trees on the left, and it ran across the tracks and into a field on the north side. Not really much of a close call, but I made my quota of at least one moose sighting for each trip to Maine.
