MEC 510 in Concord NH

Guilford dark gray stands out well on a very gray day in Concord NH by the Yard Tower. Idling and prepared to head south once a crew arrives is MEC 510, the ex CN 9642, GP40-2(w), which recently crossed the threshold of over 40 years of service,

The "Big G" 510 was a fast replacement for the engine that was rotated up through here, BM 327. The 327, at the time this pic was taken, was shut down, and reportedly broken down, located with 6 cars at the south end of Manchester Yard.
