'Big Red' At Chester, VT

Freshly painted VTR SD70M-2 No. 431 is seen lumbering past the old train station at Chester, Vermont with VRS train 263 on Monday, January 16, 2017. It was a perfect sunny day for a chase over the mountain. At least 8 other railfan photographers were following the train. When I arrived at Rutland in the morning that day it looked as if the big red engine would be trailing over the mountain. However they did some switching in the yard and the engine ended up leading. With all the blue lease engines on the VRS these days, it's somewhat of a gamble trying to catch a red engine leading.
