LRC at Providence

In 1980 Amtrak leased an LRC trainset from Bombardier for evaluation on the Northeast Corridor. Unfortunately, the equipment was not as reliable as Amtrak hoped and wound up going back to Canada after a year or so. Here, bug-eyed LRC locomotive 38 leads the sharp-looking train at Providence.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, October, 1980.
