Although retired in the late 1950s, three of the New Haven's big EP-4 class passenger electrics (GE 1938) survived in storage almost to the end of the railroad. Then in the fall of 1968 they were moved to the NH's scrapyard at the north end of Cedar Hill Yard in New Haven and cut up, no doubt because the railroad needed the cash from the scrap metal to get through its final days. Motor 361 awaited the end on a fall afternoon,
