Another casualty on Amtrak Day was this sad remnant of the NYC's once prestigious New England States, PC train 427 between Boston and Albany, which was down to a single snack bar coach. A few days before the end, train 427's ex-NYC E8 cleared its throat upon exiting the Prudential tunnel. Boston-Albany service wouldn't resume until Amtrak inaugurated the Lake Shore in 1975.
