leaving New Haven

A pair of FL9s, one still in worn New Haven paint and the other in PC black, lead a New York-Boston train out of New Haven, passing under I-91 on the north side of town. FL9s would soon be replaced by E8s here, and the catenary that fed freight electrics on their way to Cedar Hill has already been removed.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, June, 1969.
