PROVIDENCE TUNNEL

A DL109 powered fan trip from Boston is emerging from the mile-long tunnel under College Hill as seen from the Providence station.. Note the double-slip switch -- most were replaced years earlier with easier to maintain but less flexible crossovers. I caught the trip here for a ride to Worcester, the N&W to Plainfield, then to Hartford and down the Valley line to Old Saybrook and back to Providence.
