CMQ Cement Shuttle at Rockland, ME

The NEREX track car convoy passed CMQ B23-7 at Rockland on its way to Wiscasset and return on Saturday 6/17/17. Each day M-F, the CMQ delivers 6 loads of cement mined by Dragon at the Thomaston mine 4 miles to the barge loading pier at Atlantic Point in Rockland and returns with 6 empties. 40 cars are required to fill a barge, which then departs for Coastal Cement's unloading pier at Boston. And perhaps once a month, CMQ hauls 6 loaded cement cars to Brunswick for PAR/CSX/BCRR conveyance via Selkirk to Tresca Bros Concrete in Millis, MA. CMQ has one other customer at Thomaston that gets occasional covered hoppers: Dicaperl's Perlite facility. Other than the sporadic cement and Perlite traffic, the Rockland line's Maine-funded smooth as silk track with CWR sees no traffic as Brunswick-Rockland passenger excursions are no more.
