As the sun sinks low, an eastbound Penn Central freight behind a GP38 and four GP40s pulls past an empty Nevins Yard in Framingham while an RS-3 assigned to local service smokes things up.

Wow - where here are all the auto racks and hi-cube parts box cars that came into/out of GM's Framingham assembly plant? Perhaps plant was shutdown for cut-over to build 1972 Pontiacs/Buicks/Oldsmobiles? Also didn't know dwarf signals were once used on the main at the east end of Nevins yard to protect the interlocking. Excellent photo!
