This Alco S-4 from the Illinois Northern RR (a Chicago switching line) hung around eastern Massachusetts for a few years in the 1970s but I'm not sure what it did -- maybe someone else remembers. IN sold it in 1973 to a contractor called Grosshaus-Peterson Construction, later Neosho Rail Service, and it eventually wound up in Wyoming. I shot it in Boston in September 1973 and it later sat for a year or more at the P&W's Worcester shop.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, September, 1973.
