Mechanicville departure

Once an everyday sight, a set of Boston & Maine Geeps in the classic "Bluebird" color scheme prepares to depart the Mechanicville yard with a long eastbound freight. One of the B&M's six GP18s like the 1754 here would normally lead these mainline lashups when one was available.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, October, 1969.
Added to the photo archive by Tom Nelligan, August 14, 2017.
Railroad: Boston & Maine.
