An inbound MBTA el train approaches City Square station in Charlestown, disrupting the local pigeons. Two-car trains were the norm on this line in off-peak hours, four cars at rush hour, as transit patronage then was far lower than it is on the relocated Orange Line now.

In 1975 I carried the Grand Union of the First NH Regiment in the Bunker Hill Parade (Bicentennial) Instead of a 3x5 ft flag, we had a 5x8. I remember that when we came to the Charlestown El, the flag was so high it hit the under structure of the El and I had to tip it forward to pass under.
