Porter Square temporary stationWhen Red Line construction claimed the 1937 Boston & Maine station at Porter Square in Cambridge, the MBTA built a modest shelter and platforms under the sidewalk of Somerville Avenue that served as the stop for about five years. It closed in 1984 with the opening of the Porter Square transit/rail station but remains visible today. A pair of outbound Budds stopped there on a winter morning.
