Ansonia in 1968

The back sides of the 19th century brick buildings that lined Main Street in Ansonia, CT, provide a backdrop for a northbound New Haven RDC that has just left the station on its way to Waterbury. The tallest one in the middle was the once elegant Ansonia Opera House, which still stands (although empty) in 2017.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, January, 1968.
Added to the photo archive by Tom Nelligan, October 25, 2017.
Railroad: New Haven.
