Bow coal trainOn a bleak fall day, a loaded Bow coal train rolls through Ayer, MA, behind a grimy Boston & Maine GP9 and three Penn Central units (GP40/GP40/GP35). When these trains started up in the mid-1960s, a B&M diesel always had to lead to trigger the cab signals that were then in use on the Fitchburg Division between West Cambridge and East Deerfield.
