the MBTA's Gray Ghost

MBTA 4261 was the only one of the T's ex-PRR E8s to receive an all-gray paint scheme, leading to the nickname Gray Ghost. It sped through the junction called Boston Switch in Central Falls, RI, on the point of a short Providence-Boston local. The track in the foreground is the Providence & Worcester line that joins the Corridor here.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, July, 1980.
