Conrail RS3m

Most of Conrail's EMD-repowered RS3ms were of Penn Central (PRR/NYC/NH) heritage, but CR 9990 came from the Lehigh Valley as former LV RS3 216. It posed by the sand tower at Danbury, CT, on an early winter day. These 1200 hp units incorporated engines salvaged from scrapped E-units.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, December, 1977.
