something borrowed, and blue

In the late 1950s/early 1960s, the Pennsylvania Railroad annually leased a group of Bangor & Aroostook GP7s to help with the summer rush of ore traffic on the Cleveland docks. The tradition was revived in 1969-1970 when Penn Central leased some of the same engines. Bright blue BAR 60 stood out amid the black at PC's Beacon Park engine terminal in Boston.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, September, 1969.
