Signs of Days Gone Bye

The bridge was built in the mid-1950s. It was located close to the former Newport Secondary Railroad bridge which was put out of working order in the early 1980s. This now dismantled bridge replaced the former Old Stone Bridge which was further to the south.
This raises the question - How long should we expect a bridge to last? The nearby, and now very busy Mount Hope Bridge was opened in 1929 and is still going strong!
