The creature in center of photo has "PTM" reporting marks. I'm guessing it's a portable/standby steam boiler. What is it???

Hi, Bruce. There is a very similar car at rrpicturearchives.net. It is MEC 166: http://rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=3553267. Per the remarks there, your "guess" is right on target. Prost!

It's a steam boiler car, as you say. It was used with the cranes when they needed steam power. There's a pic in Maine Central in Color Vol 2 Pg 36 by Art Doucette at Brunswick with crane 165 with a pile driver.
