Alcos at Springfield

As the sun drops low, an all-Alco lashup of two ex-NH RS11s bracketing a pair of re-engined RS3s throbs through Springfield station with a westbound freight. In its early years Conrail would create lashups like this from yard and local freight power that was not otherwise occupied on weekends.

Photographed by Tom Nelligan, August, 1977.

Railroad: Conrail.
