This was the waiting room of New Haven Union Station as it appeared in 1970, shortly before Penn Central closed it and moved passenger facilities into the pedestrian subway. There were offices above the ticket windows, removed during the mid-1980s renovation. The information booth was at the far end of the ticket windows and passengers reached the tracks by turning right at that point rather than continuing straight ahead as today. In the middle of the room was a Union News Company lunch counter.

Unchanged from the late '50's/early '60's.I often used this station on trips to NYC, Boston and White River Junction. On the Shore Line you never needed a timetable. There was always a train going either way within the hour. WRJ was overnight with a 5:00am arrival in WRJ when I went home on vacations
