This was the waiting room of New Haven Union Station as it appeared in 1970, shortly before Penn Central closed it and moved passenger facilities into the pedestrian subway. There were offices above the ticket windows, removed during the mid-1980s renovation. The information booth was at the far end of the ticket windows and passengers reached the tracks by turning right at that point rather than continuing straight ahead as today. In the middle of the room was a Union News Company lunch counter.
