Crossing Hospital Road.

Local freight BX-5 has finished work at Newton Upper Falls and Needham Industrial Center. After branch line running to Medfield Jct., the train is on faster track, heading north to Framingham Yard. On left is the Distant Signal used by south bound trains. (The road was Rt.27 at the time this shot was made.)

Another great photo! The scene here today looks similar except for the signal is long gone (as is the New Haven RR, the Newton Upper Falls branch, local BX-5 and its Alco switcher!) and there are tall trees everywhere.
