CP train 904 is climbing through Barton, Vermont, on the way to White River Junction. The 4th and 5th units constitute a CP head end helper and will be set out at St. Johnsbury. At the time, this train and its northbound counterpart, were the primary connection for Maine Central traffic interchanged at St. Johnsbury.
