Amtrak Acela 2026, operating as train 2160, rushes through Kingston at close to full speed as train 86, its station work complete, sits at the Track 1 platform awaiting the passage of the Acela on Track 2. By the time train 86 reaches Kingston interlocking less than a mile east, 2160 will have cleared all the relevant blocks at this speed and train 86 will get the least restricting signal possible for its crossover move to follow 2160 east on Track 2.
