push me, pull you

A week or two after the legendary Blizzard of 1978 took a toll on the Boston & Maine's RDC fleet, a commandeered GP9 powers a five-car Lowell train through Somerville MA, with a GP7 on the rear to provide power on the return trip. This arrangement was temporary until the guys at the B&M's Billerica shop came up with a control box that allowed a single GP7 to handle an RDC consist from either end.
